Day 32 - Stomach Aches

12:40am
Shortly after I woke up at 8:40pm I noticed I had some a stomach ache.. it wasn't like any other stomach ache I've had before so I looked around and it seems sleep deprivation can cause stomach aches.. because of the pain I decided to lay down and since I did I fell back asleep :/ I woke up at about 2am but I fell asleep again pretty annoyed.. I fall asleep for reasons I know that will make me fall asleep like staying somewhere to comfortable or still for too long.. but its like I can't make the decision to get up or to start moving around..

No REM.I woke up around 4:20am.. just in time for my nap which I took at my desk.. I think I'm goin to return to sleeping in a chair even though I don't have a problem oversleeping in a bed.. I'm just not as comfortable as I would be so I don't ahve problems returning to a bed.. Maybe I'll have 1 or 2 naps in the daytime somewhere comfortable just so my body doesnt feel anything from sleeping in a chair so much.

No REM. Wasn't sure if I was goin to take this nap or not but I did.. I feel fine right now just alittle stomach pain.. I'm goin to get somethin to eat and I'm just goin to continue and see how I feel today/tomorrow..

No REM. Guess its goin to take a while for me to get some REM since that unscheduled sleep last nite.. Sleepin in my chair does seem easier than it used to be and its pretty easy so I'm goin to continue with it. Have been thinkin about movin these blog posts to a site other than blogspot with more information on polyphasic sleeping like sleep dep effects since I haven't seen anyone attempt to adjust for a whole month without startin over.

No REM. Not much to say.. just not gettin REM yet

No REM. If I don't stay up tonite I think I'll be startin over.. no REM yet but hopefully I'll get some REM in b4 the most difficult section of the day (1-4:40pm)

Day 31 - Makin It Through

After my nap yesterday at 8:40pm i returned to my room at 9:03pm and fell asleep at 9:05pm.. Thankfully I didn't sleep that long, only about 40 minutes but even though it set me back a little I'm still goin to be able to count this as gettin through 2 nites with pretty much no sleep.

REM. I had some dreams but I don't remember what they were.  Happy I had them because I was very very tired. About to take a shower and make some food.. maybe watch a movie I'll have to see.  I do feel a lot better now so I'm pretty sure I'll be able to make it through the nite.  Feel good enough to get some work done. need to do that to keep my body movin so I don't fall asleep.

No REM.  Very tired.. not much else to say..

REM. I dozed off for about 40 minutes at about 630 before I could take this nap.. not too happy about it but I am doin better than I have been lately with staying up at nite.

No REM. Nap was about 15 minutes but it was a nice nap for a nap without REM.  Didn't feel as tired as I usually do

REM. Feel really good.. I'm awake and don't feel like I'll have a problem staying up tonite.. will have to see how it works out tho.. hopefully I won't have any problems

No REM. Been noticin im gettin REM every other nap lately.. I didn't get it this nap so I'm really really tired.. Feel like I can fall asleep so I'm tryin to find somethin to do so I stay up

Day 30 - Made it Through the Nite

No REM. Nap was alright. My naps still feel short so I gotta get back to where they feel like they are hours long

No REM. Took this nap at my desk and it's still goin fast.. not feelin the best at the moment bbut I was able to make it through the nite!

No REM. Naps are starting to become longer but since my body isnt restoring/healing I'm not feelin to well

REM. Startin to finally feel better.. had some dreams but I don't remember what I dreamt about. I need

No REM. I feel much better.. woke up 3 mins b4 the alarm went off and I feel pretty rested.

Day 29 - :\

12:40am-4:40am


Didn't have the best nite at all.. would say it's one of my worst.  If it wasnt for the timed pictures I would of thought that I slept the whole way through.. I guess when your really tired you really cant remember bein awake. but my nite went like this..

Fell asleep at 10:40pm.. woke up at 12:10am.. back to sleep at 12:20am.. woke up at 1:05am.. got up and was able to walk around and stay awake until 1:40am where I made it back to my chair, fell asleep, and I woke up at 5:23am.

I'm not too sure what this does for my progress.. course it doesn't help.. I'm not sure if I want to keep going or start over..  If I continue, it will probably be harder.. maybe the sleep I got last nite will help but I'm not too sure. If I take a break and start over It should be easier to adapt since I would be rested in the beginning, but then I have to deal with the aches and pains again in the beginnin.. Still undecided at this point

Did pretty well with my napping last nite.. didnt doze once.. I browssed the intenrnet til i felt a little sleepiness.. then woke up and made some food. took a shower and then it was nap time . Woke up feeelin pretty good but I did start dozin around 6ish.. only for about 30 minutes tho so I might add an extra  nap aruondd that time every day

Was waitin for this nap to come.. kinda feels like I started over but I don't have to worry about oversleeping since my body wake up on its own so I sleep in beds,sofas now if I feel like I want to lay down. If I can make it through liek this I should be fully adjusted at no time.. only thing to worry about is the unscheduled sleep but I might have that taken care of.. will just have to see what happens today and tonite

Day 27 - Taking Extra Naps at Nite

Even though I said unscheduled sleep wasn't going to happen yesterday, I did.. BUT! I did figure out some things thats going to help me from here on out.  I've heard of people taking extra naps and I wasn't sure if that was something I would want to try or not just because of the extra naps needed. I'm going to be sticking to my 6 nap schedule, with extra naps at 2:40am, and if needed at 6:40am.  The reason is an extra nap at the times that are difficult for me to stay awake will help me get through those dark/zombie hours until it's daytime.  I will still be tired, but I shouldn't be as tired so it seems like it would work out pretty well.  I was dozing after this nap so I decided to hop in the shower.. got out at about 2:17am and just didn't know what to do with the time.. I keep forgetting to do important things like plan what to do after my naps so I have to get that goin.. need a set schedule.  If I can get through tonite without the unscheduled sleep then I'll be able to have Bad Company 2 in the middle of the nite since it will be the weekend so that should help me out some..I tried bein active last nite and it didn't work out too well.. I was going to draw, but I fell asleep before I could find my pencil ;(

I slept right through this nap.. woke up with tons of alarms goin off.. I think I'm used to the sound of my alarm that goes off every 15 mins.. need to change that sound

What I usually do for naps is I'll set the timer on my Iphone to 20 minutes, and then I'll enable alarms that go off at 1:00pm, 1:02pm, 1:04pm, 1:06pm, 1:07pm.. but this nap I didn't do the 20 minute timer since I was lazy and instead of 1:00pm, 1:02pm, 1:04pm, 1:06pm, 1:07pm I set it for :00am, 1:02am, 1:04am, 1:06am, 1:07am.. so when I pressed the power button on my Iphone to see what time it was I was happy to see it was only 1:04pm and not somethin like 4:00pm.. I think I'm adjusted or pretty much adjusted as far as my sleeping times/pattern.  I just have to deal with that unscheduled sleep at nite which I'll figure out soon

When I went in my room to eat after a short nap I must of passed out for I don't know how long.. I was watchin Sweeney Todd when i started to doze off.. I should of got up and hopped in the shower but instead I tried to shake it off and finish the movie.. My media player says im 30 minutes into the movie.. i dont remember any of it right now so I gotta watch that over.. but I'm not sure if I got to this nap or not.  I woke up having to click out of about 3-5 alarms which come on ever 15 mins so I dont thikn I slept that long.. I fell asleep around 2:00am-2:30am but I cant really say if I  was able to make this nap or not. I just have to remember to take a COLD SHOWER once i start to doze off.. if my head ever ends up in my hands I should hop up and run to the shower.. I'm not gettin any extra sleep tonite.. not sure how thats goin to work but it will

Day 24 - Another Day Wasted

Slept well and woke up.. made some food and browsed around for a little bit..

I was late for this nap, but I felt really good when I woke up.  I'm still wakin up before my alarm and that seems to help out I just gotta watch my sleepin times.. maybe get to bed 5 mins before my nap time.

Feelin the serotonin again.. and I also had a dream but I don't remember what it was about.  Before I would feel the high serotonin in my brain whenever i didn't dream.. now it seems i feel it when I do.. hmm

It's a good thing I set my Iphone to go off at 1:00pm, 1:02pm, 1:04pm, 1:06pm, 1:08pm, and 1:09pm.. I heard the alarm forever in my sleep.. but I must of kept switchin it off so those extra alarms r important.. I slept in a bed this time and it was very comfortable.. was very tired when i went to sleep since the last couple of naps have been a little late. Other then that theres nothin else to say.. no dreams.. dont feel 2 well..  I feel a little weak at the moment but I just need a good meal

Went to sleep on time and after Ate some food that I know makes me tired but since I've run out of food again It was my only choice.. ended up fallin asleep off and on for a couple of hours so I don't remember much about last nite.  Somehow my laptop got turned off AGAIN and thats where I take pics every 3 mins to track if im sleepin or not and its also where My alarm is.. so I really gotta pay attention to see whats goin on with that

Day 23 - Blah

At around 10pm I decided to go into the living room to see somethin on tv.. I got back in my room at 10:45pm sit down and I'm sleepin right away.  The reason why I haven't been having problems oversleeping too much lately is because after a few days ago I set up alarms to go off every 15 mins of every hour 24 hrs a day.. it helps a ton.. so I had those set up and they should wake me up if I were to sleep for too long but it seems like the power cord to my laptop was snatched out by my dog when I was gone yesterday... so instead of waking up from bein soooooooo tired I slept until about 1:20am. It's frustratin when progress gets messed up for stupid reasons like this.. my fault since I didn't check everythin when I came home but still..

Was dozin off and off until this point so I don't remember much.. It seems I was awake though. When it was time to take this nap I was very sleepy and it felt like the nap was 5 mins long when it was time to wake up.. usually my naps feel like they are hours and hours long so that was strange.. I stayed awake fine until it was time for my next nap

I had a dream this nap and also had that fuzzy serotonin feelin when I woke up.. maybe I'm not as off as I thought.. I'll have to see over the next couple of days how things work out.  I have all my alarms set and ready and enough to keep me busy.. I don't want to start over so I'll just try to keep on goin and see where it takes me.

Was able to have another dream.. and I'm startin to feel better throughout the day.  As long as I can stay busy through the nite I should be fine..

I'm starting to run out of things to type each day since there isn't much of a difference between my updates.. so sometimes they might be pretty short.  This nap went really well.. Not tired at all.. As long as I stay busy.. have movies ready to be watched and make sure I always update my list with a ton of stuff to do I should be fine

Nap went well.. No dreams but I'm startin to feel rested even when I don't have them.. I wake up before my alarm or right when it goes off and I just feel extremely rested.. As long as I dont have any unscheduled sleep I think I'll be fine

Day 22 - No REM?

So I haven't been able to have any REM sleep so far.. startin to wonder how long this will last since its harder to feel rested without REM

Before this nap I was getin ready to play Bad Company 2 but while the game was loading a quick unscheduled nap snuck up on me. nothin too bad.. I then did take my scheduled nap and still no REM.. I'm wonderin if it has somethin to do with what I'm eatin.. Also I'm not feelin that high feelin from the serotonin anymore.. I'm startin to doze a little so I'm goin to go and take a shower

Can definitely feel the serotonin right now.. feel so relaxed it would be so easy to go to sleep.. I am gettin worried bout my dreams.. before I started experiencing what happens with high serotonin i used to get plenty of dreams.. will just have to see how this turns out.. i do thikn im on the right track though.. I'll just have to look at some more sleep logs to see if anyone else has experienced somethin like this.. If it wasn't for the serotonin I would be extremely tired right now because of how i felt when i went to sleep.. but now i just feel high.. it doesnt last too long tho.. its usually no more than 15 minutes and then I feel relaxed and refreshed.. so i n a way its like how I feel after REM without atually gettin REM sleep

Decided that I''m goin to go see my family today so my 4:40am nap should be interestin o type about.. I don't think I'm adjusted enough or ready to be sleeping in unfamiliar places but it's important so I'll have to find a place to sleep when the time comes

I found a nice quiet couch to sleep on, but it was hard for me to fall asleep.  It just took me longer since I wasn't too familiar with sleeping in the environment I was in.. definitely was different.. I ended up getting about 15 mins of sleep since my nap was interrupted when I heard some knocks

Made it home just in time for this nap so it went pretty well.. Didn't feel too well after I woke up and still was pretty tired.. I kinda feel like me feelin the way I am has somethin to do with the nap at 4:40pm but not sure what I can do now

Day 21 - 3 Weeks In

Not to happy about my progress after 3 weeks in but I guess mine is a little different due to some mistakes that I knew I shouldn't of made like eating certian meals that I knew made me tired before I tried switchin to Uberman.

I wasn't able to get to sleep to fast with this schedule.. I planned on just puttin my head down on my desk to relax but I actually did fall asleep.. I remember lookin up at the clock and it sayin 12:46 so it did take me a while.. It's 3:30am now and I feel fine.. about to watch as much of the Star Trek 2009 movie before my next nap then I'll get up.. shower.. make some food.. then finish the rest of it.

No REM but I been feelin pretty refreshed when I wake up.. maybe I don't remember my dreams.. This nap took me some time to get to since I'm not too used to sleepin in a chair as much as I used to be took me about 4-5 mins to fall asleep.

Took this nap in a bed and woke up with a strange electric/tingling feeling.. wonder what this is.. Nothin I'm used to experiencin but will have to do some more research to see wha it is

Still have that strange feeling when I wake up.. it's not that its a bad feeling its just awkward.. when I make slight movements its like I get some sort of chill through my body.. Still no REM.. will just have to see how things go durin my next nap.. maybe I'll have it again maybe I won't

So I got a friend that looked up the way I been feelin when I was takin my nap and it seems that my Serotonin levels are high.. when I'm not able to dream she said my serotonin levels rise.. and then I do dream they deplete.. a high level of serotonin can be the result of a lucid dream.. so it would be interestin if my next dream was a lucid dream and it could be predicted by the way i been feeling.. before i said it was a tingling which makes it seem like my nerves r goin bad but it just feels like im high pretty much.. I found a website that tells you how to boost your serotonin levels.

Still no REM Sleep and the Serotonin doesn't seem to be affectin me as much as it was.. startin to get tired again and not sure if I can make it that much longer after this nap

Day 20 - It Happened Again

Got no post title foo.

Stayin up til this nap was painful! I was so tired.. I ended up dozin off a little bit in this highchair so I just decided to hop on the sofa 10 mins early.. I didn't want to fall asleep but at the same time I didn't want to doze off of a highchair and wake up after hittin the floor.  I made it through the nap and it seemed so short I'm not even sure if I actually slept.. I'm pretty sure I did because the clock skipped from 12:39am to 1:00am.. I wasnt so sure if I slept so i just laid there until 1:05am

Stayin up for this nap was pretty eaasy after I got my nap in arund 1am.. If I have problems again tonite I might try adding a nap halfway between my naps for 20 ins.. that way  I can feel refreshed and make it to the scheduled nap .. I heard this is fine to do but I am a little worried about what it does to the time adjustin.. but since I made it through I'm goin to go hop in the shower and get ready for today.

I had a big meal yesterday which I shouldn't of had.. today seems a little more difficult than it should be.. The last time I slept alot not countin the time I had to skip a nap was due to the meal being to the same type of meal that I had last nite.. This nap went fine, but I'm no REM sleep + the meal that I ate is havin me extremely sleepy at the moment

Still tired.. it seems like its 8pm right now which means I'm goin to have a rough day.. hopefully I can get something light to eat since the only thing I really have is pasta.. The lacck of a schedule is really a problem.. I'm not sure what I should or shouldn't be doing since I  usually just work throughout the day.. I can't really do that right now since sometimes its just hard to be creative when I'm as tired as I am.. I find myself just sitting here browsing websites most of the time and I need some more activity to stay awake.. came in from this nap at about 1:04pm and I was very tired..I started dozin off  at around 1:06pm and seems I slept from then to about 3:58pm

So at this point.. The causes that I can think about are
  • Lack of schedule
  • Too tired to be creative
  • Eating big meals
I'm going to start planning ahead what I'm going to do to pass the time.  If I can find something to replace an activity that I had planned, I will still do the activity that I had planned during the next time that I'm awake. Today will be to recover from the oversleep today and since I don't feel too well.. I'm pretty sure its the pasta since it feels like stomach pains

Like I thought I wasn't able to sleep so I just laid down and relaxed.. I feel better than I did before but still a little tired and still have some stomach pains

Nap went alright.. made some food and drank lots of water.. about to play bad company 2 to pass a little time.. and then maybe some Singularity then a movie.. Hopefully from this point I can finish adjusting since I'm tired of bein sleepy/tired when I shouldn't be

Day 19 - Hmm..

Since the way yesterday ended is how this day starts there really isn't that much to say..

At this point.. at 12:40am I am actually STILL sleep from when I fell asleep at 9:22pm yesterday.. theres no activity at all anywhere.. I didn't leave my room.. my computer is idle and I'm just passed out.. I got a call at 1:24am which woke me up (people know I'm suppose to be up at this time) and I'm happy I did get it because I would of slept until the sun came up.. So now I know what happens when you miss a scheduled nap and how important those scheduled naps are.. just dont miss them.. its not worth it. Theres a huge difference from missing a scheduled nap, and not being able to sleep for some reason but your laying down/resting your body during the time your suppose to be having your scheduled nap. Since this happened I have 2 options that I can think of so something like this never happens again.. I can either find some kind of way for my computer to set off an alarm when It's idle for more than maybe 5-10 minutes until I'm adjusted to this sleeping schedule, or I can set up an alarm that will go off every 10 minutes of every hour so I wake up in case I did fall asleep. I think I will go with both of these alarms but I'm not too sure how to set up the idle alarm.  I also decided that I'm going to continue instead of starting over or switching to SPAMAYAL. Reason is before this problem here my unscheduled sleep got shortened from 5 hours to 20 minutes.. and they seem like they would of disappeared either today (18th) or tomorrow.  I'm goin to load up on movies and start passin the time so I can catch up to where I was.. I don't think it was that much of a setback since I'm at Day 19.. but it definitely will mess up this day.  I don't think I will get REM sleep until either 12:40pm or 4:40pm.. but it will be interesting to see how things turn out..Still cant believe missing a nap put me out for 4 hours.. damn

Strangely I got some REM sleep..Wasn't expectin that but I feel really refreshed and ready for the rest of the day.. I didnt find nay idle alarms but I'm going to start looking again later today.. I did start setting up the other alarms tho and that should work out well.  I'm going to find something to occupy my time then I'll shower, make some food and eat after I wake up at 9am

I'm feeling pretty rested after these naps.. course it could be because of the 4 hours I got but I don't think thats what it is.. will have to see how the naps make me feel later tonight.

I tried sleeping in my chair at first but I couldn't so i switched ot the sofa plannin just to lay there and relax and I ended up havin 3 dreams.. so I'm wondering f the 4 hours that i sleped helped or hurt my progress.. i seem to be gettin more REM slepe than I was before

This nap worked in my chair.. No dreams though.. I'm starting to wonder if where I sleep makes it harder/easier to have dreams.. I have had them in my chair before, but I have had more laying down then I have sitting up hunched over at my desk.. Will have to see how this works out.  So far, haven't had any micronaps or felt tired enough to doze off.. will have to see in the next few days how things work out

No REM this nap and I'm feelin pretty tired.. I already know its goin to be rough on me tonite... ill make it through though.. I did have a huge huge meal today.. I cant dot hat anymore.. so I'll be eatin light from now on

Day 18 - >:(

Yesterday I did pretty well with the micronaps/oversleeping and i felt like I figured out how to continue without having to worry about oversleeping.  Later in the day though my day kept gettin worse.. and worse and I ended up oversleepin 20 minutes.. not too bad.  My luck did get worse throughout the day though

This nap went perfectly fine.. went to sleep and woke up right on time..  I was browsing through websites and about to start working when my damn mouse dies.. look around the house to find some AA batteries and I can't find any at all.. I got a call at 1:07am from a friend and I thought it would be a good way to stay awake and it was! She eventually wanted to goto sleep and when she did thats when things went down hill.. with no mouse I didn't have much I could do and I fell asleep.. seems like those tiny windows of time when I'm not doin anythin is where the trouble begins..I ended up sleepin for about an hour.. thats not too bad but on Day 18 I think I should be further ahead.. so I thikn I have some decisions to make in the near future

Well this nap I wasn't able to sleep so I just relaxed my body as much as possible and thats about it for that nap.. I'm trying to decide now if I want to continue with Uberman, switch to SPAMAYAL, or start over by gettin a few days of Monophasic sleep and then goin back to Uberman. SPAMAYAL seems interestin and if I did do it I would follow my same 1am5am9am/1pm5pm9pm schedule but add in some extra naps when I get tired

No REM.. body startin to feel pretty bad :/.. I'm gong to just stay busy for now.. not much else to say at the moment

got some REM sleep so I feel better than I did earlier.. I don't feel as refreshed as I usually do but I'll see how I feel after the next nap.. I'm goin to go play some BFBC2.. see if that wakes me up any and then I'll start workin or drawin

I  fell asleep for 20 minutes at around 4:00pm, so when it was time for my I wasn't able to sleep.. I did lay around and relax while trying to sleep at this time though

At this time something came up and I wasn't sure what I was going to do about this nap.  I remembered somethin about bein able to take naps halfway between the scheduled times which would mean between 8:40pm and 12:40pm I would take a nap.. so since I wasn't able to take this nap at 8:40pm I was going to take a nap at 10:40pm, 12:40pm, 2:40am, and then my next scheduled nap at 4:40am.. seems at 9:19pm my eyes were closes and at 9:22pm i was pretty much out of it..

Day 17 - New Day!

Ahh no dreams.. I'm pretty tired now.. I'm not sure how I'm going to make it through the nite but I';; do it somehow.. I wanted to see an action movie but I couldn't really decide so I probably won't be watchin anythin like that tonite and I think I'm going to have to take Singularity back to Gamestop.. its a fun game and all, but I bought it for the multiplayer like I do most of my games and it just feels like it was a last minute thing.. I have no idea how I'll make it through the nite like this.. feels like I can pass out but I won't let it happen anymore.. time to get pass that last hump

REM again! bout time I started dreaming again.. I feel so much better now. I am still a littie tired but I feel rested.. I think I should feel a lot better after my 8:40 nap so I'm looking forward to that.. Happy that I made it without any unscheduled sleep and hopefully tomorrow will be the same

I felt refreshed like I had a dream but I'm not too sure if I had one or not.. I don't remember one.. I decided to take this nap on the sofa since I was able to be watched while I was sleepin.

Since I'm starting to wake up a couple minutes before my alarm goes off I turn off the alarm and sometimes I drift right back off to sleep.. so instead of getting up at 12:58am I got up at 1:08am.. overslept a little bit but I don't think thats hurting anything.. I ended up making some oatmeal and eggs to eat and then went in my room to see what I could do to pass the time.

I try ont to do anything thats to mentally stressful but thats pretty much everything I do so I find myself drifting off since I'm trying to figure out what to do.. I need to watch more movies I think to pass the time between naps.. I would like to draw but that can be pretty stressful so I try to find other things to do..  I been interested in motion graphics and considered takin it up and I do have the programs that I need but I'm not sure if thats somethin I want to do to pass the time.. Maybe I'll try putting up some websites (I'm a Web Designer btw).. either way I just need to find a way to pass time to where I'm not too busy.. I ended up fallin asleep before this nap for about 20 minutes which isnt too bad and when I went to sleep for the actual nap I don't remember if I actually got to sleep. It just went so quick! it was 4:38pm when I put my head down and in a blink it was 5:00pm.  I'm feeling better about the unscheduled sleep since it started with 2-3 hrs for unscheduled sleep and it dropped to 1hr and now around 20-30 minutes.. so I think I'm adjustin

This nap went pretty well.. I woke up a couple minutes before the alarm went off again so it seems my body is adjusting to the times im suppose to be awake. No REM though..
